Aricent RIP Overview :
The Aricent RIP (Routing Information Protocol) software is a portable implementation of the industry-standard RIP routing protocol.
Aricent RIP Features:
- Implements RIPv2 functionality with spacing (to avoid routing update storm).
- Supports both clear text and MD5 authentication methods.
- Supports demand RIP and Triggered RIP.
- Supports Neighbor Trust List and Neighbor unicast update.
- Supports CIDR.
- Applies Split Horizon/Poison reverse technique.
- Limits application of Poison reverse on individual routes.
- Per-interface configuration support to send RIPv1 compatible or RIPv2 routing updates.
- Fully compatible with Aricent SNMP Agent.
- Supports unnumbered interfaces for RIP.
- Implements per-interface timers for routing updates.
- Implements route timeouts.
- Supports route redistribution to OSPF and BGP through a routing table manager.
- Supports enabling the routing protocol over selected interfaces.
- Supports authentication on per interface basis.
- Supports storage of all alternate RIP routes in to the routing table.
- Provides complete manageability using SNMP.
- Provides ease of migration across multiple Operating Systems and target microprocessors.
- Conforms to Future Software Architecture for Portability, thus ensuring highly portable code that uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
Aricent RIP Benefits:
Aricent RIP is easily portable across various architectures and reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs, who wish to incorporate the RIPv2 functionality in their products.
