Quality Journey
ISO 9001:1994 certification in September 1998: This laid the foundation for a good quality system and institutionalized the project management processes and the engineering processes (Requirements Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Reviews and Configuration Management).
CMM Level 4 assessment in June 1999: The vast data collected on the life cycle processes during the project execution brought us capability to predict the project delivery results such as quality, schedule and resource requirements. This helped us in achieving CMM Level 4.
CMM Level 5 assessment in May 2001: Continuous improvement in processes and consistently improving results with every project execution became a way of life. Automation of the business processes and introduction of a number of engineering tools were done as part of the CMM initiative. Building a comprehensive intranet and implementing Knowledge Management practices was another highlight. This helps us to measure up to the ever rising expectations of our clients.
People CMM Level 3 assessment in August 2001: This initiative was started in 1999 and has resulted in streamlining and improving the HR related processes such as competency planning and development. Integrating the people processes and the software development processes has given us the capability to be more adept in making available the competencies required by the market.
ISO 9001:2000 certification in Sept 2001: Tracking trends in customer satisfaction and a number of other metrics related to customer satisfaction became the focus point. Aligning goals of the projects and support functions with the business goals was also a focus point.
Balanced Scorecard in March 2002: An automated scorecard system is developed and piloted which collects and reports the metrics for every role in the organization. This gives high levels of control on the processes and the results enabling us to sustain the competitive advantages we deliver to our customers.
Successfully coming through the Software CMM Level 5 assessment has made us the first Indian Communication Software Company to obtain this distinction. The Level 5 rating puts us amongst select few organizations in the software industry worldwide that have achieved this high level of Quality Systems.
In August 2001, we attained a unique distinction of being the first Communication Software Company in the World to have been assessed at People CMM Level 3. We also became the first company worldwide, in the Communication Software industry to hold both a Software CMM Level 5 and the People CMM Level 3 assessment and the second one to have achieved both of these levels in the global software industry. We are the third Indian Organization to have reached this milestone. These distinctions show our obsession with Quality. They also signify our constant striving to perfect our software development processes and methodologies to deliver effective software to our customers.
