Aricent LA Overview :

Aricent LA (Link Aggregation) is a portable implementation of the IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation specification. The software can be very easily ported to different RTOS environments and interfaced to different switch hardware. Aricent LA contains Aggregator and Aggregation Control functionalities. It provides support for extensive management capabilities. Aricent LA is also available in Integrated form with other Aricent L2 Protocols such as RSTP/MSTP, VLAN, and PNAC.

Aricent LA Features :

  • Provides Link Aggregation capability, as specified in IEEE 802.3ad, and thereby can be used to support high availability and increased bandwidth in switch solutions.
  • Implements LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol) for automatic communication of aggregation capability between systems and automatic configuration of link aggregation.
  • Supports selection of links as “Standby” links, which will be able to take part in aggregation upon failure of one of the active links in aggregation.
  • Supports Distribution Algorithm per Aggregator that selects a link for frame distribution.
  • Supports High-availability redundancy (Optional)
  • Supports manual aggregation of links, which will enable the switch to aggregate multiple ports without LACP protocol.
  • Provides MIB support - Annexe 30C of IEEE 802.3ad - through SNMP.
  • Provides support for configuration and management through the CLI interface.
  • Supports enabling/disabling Link Aggregation on specified ports
  • Integrates easily with different types of switch hardware from various vendors.
  • Provides flexible, easy-to-adapt interfaces with 3rd party components.
  • Conforms to Future Software Architecture for Portability (FSAP2), thus ensuring highly portable code, which uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.

Benefits :

Aricent LA reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the Link Aggregation functionality into their switching/routing devices.
