Aricent TACACS+ Overview :
Aricent TACACS+ (Terminal Access Controller Access Control System) software is a portable implementation of the TACACS+ protocol draft-grant-tacacs-02.txt (partial) for providing Network Access Security (NAS). NAS ensures access security from remotely connected users. Aricent TACACS+ is implemented as TACACS+ Client, which provides the Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) functionalities.
Aricent TACACS+ Features:
- Uses TCP for transport to ensure reliable delivery.
- Provides access control for routers, network access servers and other network devices via one or more centralized servers.
- Provides separate functions for Authentication, Authorization and Accounting.
- Encrypts (MD5) the password packet when sent from client to server.
- Supports Multiple protocol (SLIP, ENABLE, PPP, ARA, EXEC, Telnet) and each user or group authorization.
- Supports various authentication protocols (PAP, CHAP & MSCHAP).
- Provides complete support for SNMP-based management by implementing the proprietary MIB.
- Conforms to Future Software Architecture for Portability (FSAP2), thus ensuring highly portable code, which uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
Aricent TACACS+ Benefits:
Aricent TACACS+ reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the TACACS+ functionality into their switching/routing devices.
