Aricent SNMP Overview :
Aricent SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) software is a complete implementation of the Bi-lingual Agent from SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c Network Management Protocols. The two-tiered architecture of the software, implemented as 'Protocol Middle Level' and 'Protocol Low Level' routines, provides for easy interfacing (refer Figure 1).

Aricent SNMP Features:
- Provides the target management capability with SNMPv2c along with SNMPv1 as a Bi-lingual Agent.
- Interfaces with Aricent SLI for remote management using the SNMP Manager.
- Interfaces with the local Manager Aricent MMI (for SNMPv1 Management Interface only).
- Provides for sending traps from the target applications to the SNMP Manager (v1 or v2).
- Translates the responses and traps between the SNMP versions in Bi-lingual mode.
- Maintains a list of SNMP Managers (Community table) authorized to use its services.
- Supports SNMP statistics.
- Provides Middle Level Code Generator tools for easy MIB integration.
- Conforms to Aricent Architecture for Portability (FSAP2), thus ensuring highly portable code that uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
Aricent SNMP Benefits:
Aricent SNMP reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the SNMP Agent functionality into their products.
