Aricent PNNI Overview :
Aricent PNNI (Private Network-Network Interface for ATM software) routing and signaling software is a portable implementation of the ATM Forum PNNI Specification to compute and setup paths between private ATM switches and between groups of private ATM switches. It provides support for ATM Adaptation Layer (SAAL) software for reliable transfer of signaling messages.
Aricent PNNI provides an Application Program Interface (API) for Call Control applications on top of the PNNI layer.
The stubs for interfacing Aricent PNNI to the Call Control Application and to the AAL5 layer can be modified according to the requirements of the target environment.
Aricent PNNI Features:
- Supports Border nodes, PGL/LGN capabilities in addition to Minimum functional node.
- Provides Distributed hierarchical routing to 10 levels.
- Provides multiple routing metrics and attributes.
- Provides source routed connection setup.
- Supports dynamic routing, responsive to changes in resource availability.
- Provides complete PNNI standards-based MIB.
- Supports Alternate routing with Crankback.
- Exterior reachable address.
- Provides Point-to-multipoint connection setup.
- Provides portable buffer management and timer management libraries.
Aricent PNNI Benefits:
Aricent PNNI reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the ATM-PNNI routing and signaling protocol stack in their products.
