Aricent OSPF Overview

Aricent OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) Routing software is a portable implementation of the OSPF Specification version 2 as specified in RFC 2328. It runs directly over IP and interfaces with SNMP for configuration and control purposes.

Aricent OSPF implements a link state routing algorithm and maintains a routing table, which is referred to by IP when forwarding packets

Aricent OSPF Features
  • Supports Broadcast, Non-Broadcast Multi-Access, Point-to-Multi-point and Point-to-Point Links (both numbered and unnumbered).
  • Supports configuration of Virtual Link Networks.
  • Provides OSPF area/stub area support.
  • Supports redistribution of static routes and routes learnt through BGP and RIP. The route exchanges with BGP conforms to RFC 1745.
  • Fully compatible with Aricent IP and Aricent SNMP Agent.
  • Uses an independent radix tree based library for easy creation, maintenance and access of routing entries.
  • Supports Simple Password and Cryptographic packet authentication using MD5 algorithm.
  • Supports equal-cost multi-path and TOS based routing.
  • Handles Database Overflow.
  • Provides Demand Circuit support.
  • Provides Opaque LSA support.
  • Provides flexible choice of synchronous (socket) or asynchronous (function call based) interface with the IP module.
  • Provides complete support for SNMP-based management by implementing the MIB in RFC 1850
  • Conforms to Aricent Architecture for Portability (FSAP2), thus ensuring highly portable code that uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
Aricent OSPF Benefits

Aricent OSPF reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the IP routing functionality in their products.
