Aricent DNS Relay Overview :
DNS (Domain Name System) is a distributed database that is used by TCP/IP applications to map between host names and IP addresses. The DNS Servers maintain the database and DNS Clients query these servers for the mappings. The clients and servers use either UDP or TCP as their transport protocol.
Aricent DNS Relay acts as a forwarder between the DNS Clients and the DNS Servers. Aricent DNS Relay is designed for home/office networks where the user(s) might want to dial into more than one Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Aricent DNS Relay Features:
- Forwards only a single query to the DNS Server for a specific URL when multiple queries are generated and thereby reduces network traffic.
- Supports URL based firewall.
- Supports local caching and reply to queries to avoid traffic congestion at the name server.
- Supports connectivity to multiple name servers.
- Aricent DNS Relay is interoperable with Windows and Linux DNS resolvers.
- Aricent DNS Relay is highly scalable.
- Provides complete support for SNMP-based management.
- Conforms to Aricent Architecture for Portability (FSAP2), thus ensuring highly portable code, which uses flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
Aricent DNS Relay Benefits:
Aricent DNS Relay reduces the time to market for OEMs and VARs who wish to incorporate the DNS Relay functionality into their switching/routing devices.
