We welcome you to the Chennai page! This city with its distinct ethos and culture offers a wide range of experience to those who come and reside here.

We have tried to include information here that will be of interest to you-information about the climate, the people, the place, the lifestyles and more. . .

Chennai offers you : Climate:

The seashore city of Chennai offers you a warm and comfortable climate throughout the year. Autumn and Springtime here are very pleasant mixed with the splash of colors of seasonal flowers.

Summer in Chennai brings with it plenty of heat and humidity along with luscious mangoes and a delicious fruit called 'nongu' belonging to a locally grown palm. Though the mercury some days shoots up to 42C., the cool refreshing breeze from the Bay of Bengal which sets in every evening ensures that summer is not a punishment for the residents of Chennai the way it is in other parts of India!

The Chennai winter is very mild with temperatures varying from 28C to 35C. The nip in the air in the winter evenings makes you feel fresh and energetic. The north-east monsoon brings rains to Chennai in the months from October to December and this makes the Chennai winter a unique and memorable one.

The city contains innumerable comfortable and compact apartments and independent houses catering to various segments of the population. Houses for rent are easily available with house-owners usually asking for 6-10 months' rent as advance deposit. Rentals vary between Rs.5000/- to 6000/- depending on the locality.

The people of Chennai are simple and hospitable. They are known to be of supporting nature in helping anyone new to the city to settle down quickly and easily... by guiding them about the nitty gritties of settling down in a new place-things like gas supply, milk availability, housemaids, neighbourhood shops profile(what's good where), plumbing and carpentry needs etc. Though politically aware right down to its grass-root levels, the city of Chennai rarely sees any major upheavals which disrupt daily life.

Art and Culture:

Chennai is still synonymous with tradition in many ways. It is the seat of the fine arts and every budding singer, musician, dancer has to be launched from this city to be accepted in his/her field. Bharatnatyam and Carnatic music continue to be enjoyed by the people of this city and the support given to these arts is what has made Chennai so unique.
