A major telecommunication equipment manufacturer in the United States.
Requirement
- Security features for an IEEE 802.11 based product developed by customer for wireless LAN access inside an office or corporate environment.
The customer wanted to make a wireless LAN product by using PPP over Ethernet, which would provide secure connectivity for Wireless networks in public places such as airports, hotels and convention centres.
Solution Framework
- Initially developed a quick prototype, which was deployed successfully at a community in North America in mid-1999 in order to demonstrate proof of concept.
- Subsequently, software for the full-featured 11 Mbps shared bandwidth product implemented.
- Client component of the product, residing in laptops/desktops and access server functionalities including support for roaming developed.
- Licensing and porting of PPP and RADIUS Client software products on the Server component.
