Case Study 1 - Mobility integration with ATM

Requirement

  • Build devices integrating ATM and mobility to provide high bandwidth access to wireless devices.
Solution Framework

  • Implementation of a fully operational Wireless and ATM integrated network solution (25 Mbps shared bandwidth) for the customer.
  • Licensing and extensive use of our ATM routing/routing stacks and certain proprietary extensions to handle mobility.
  • Post primary delivery in January 1999, support for field trials at the customer's end-user sites in the United States and Europe.

Case Study 2 - Wireless LAN
Customer

A major telecommunication equipment manufacturer in the United States.

Requirement

  • Security features for an IEEE 802.11 based product developed by customer for wireless LAN access inside an office or corporate environment.

The customer wanted to make a wireless LAN product by using PPP over Ethernet, which would provide secure connectivity for Wireless networks in public places such as airports, hotels and convention centres.

Solution Framework

  • Initially developed a quick prototype, which was deployed successfully at a community in North America in mid-1999 in order to demonstrate proof of concept.
  • Subsequently, software for the full-featured 11 Mbps shared bandwidth product implemented.
  • Client component of the product, residing in laptops/desktops and access server functionalities including support for roaming developed.
  • Licensing and porting of PPP and RADIUS Client software products on the Server component.

Requirement

  • Proof of concept: Mobility in ATM network.
  • Implement proprietary mobility and call control algorithms.

  • Complete design and development of wireless ATM network using customer specific proprietary algorithms.
  • Porting of ATM Stacks UNI, PNNI and ILMI to switch as well as end user machines.
  • Provide end user mobility on ATM network.
  • Development of switch controller, end user installations and wireless base stations.
  • Development of Call control.
  • Enhancement of stacks to support all the mobility functions.
  • Onsite integration with wireless network and testing.
