Case Study 1 - ATM switch platform

Customer

Chip manufacturer in the United States

Requirement

  • Jointly design a software platform integrated closely with chipsets providing ATM services to applications in order to provide complete building block for an ATM network
Solution Framework
  • ATM switch built using our UNI, PNNI and ILMI protocol stacks already developed by us
  • Integrating of the ATM switch into the customer's hardware and device drivers.
  • In addition to ATM signaling interface, the product also had integrated ATM applications like LANE, which gave a second interface point to build ATM application systems.
  • The entire system was managed with SNMP V1 and V2 interfaces.
Customer Benefits
  • Customer was able to make an attractive offering for OEMs designing new ATM access/switching network equipment
  • Time to market due to readily available protocol stacks

Integrated offering was attractive for OEMs designing new ATM access/switching network equipment since they could use the chipset and the software platform in their targets and only needed to develop the application components above the ATM service platform.

Case Study 2 - PNNI product development

Customer

Self initiated Product development

Requirement

Development of a PNNI protocol based system (for handling routing of several hundred nodes in an hierarchical ATM network).

Solution Framework

  • Building on our existing experience with ATM, Signaling and Routing technologies, we initiated development of a PNNI protocol based system (for handling routing of several hundred nodes in an hierarchical ATM network).
  • The development and testing of this protocol stack involved significant challenges due to its complexity as well as concerns relating to scalability and stability
  • Extensive simulation and test workbenches specifically developed for this purpose.
Benefits
  • Scalable and stable product solution
  • A front runner in the market developed
Case Study 3 - DVB-RCS Protocol Analyzer

Customer

A European Startup

Requirement

  • To develop the DVB Forward Link and Return Link protocol analyzer
Solution Framework
  • Support for online and offline analysis of Forward Link and Return Link Data
  • Support for standard file formats
  • Analyzer on windows PC
Customer Benefits
  • One of the very first DVB analyzers to hit the market
  • Cost effective implementation
  • Customer able to access a huge market, considering the growing demands in satellite terminals and gateways and the associated service providers
Case Study 4- DVB-RCS based Satellite Interactive Terminal

Customer

A satellite OEM major in Europe

Requirement

  • Software solution for Satellite Router Terminal for the new generation Satellite Interactive Network.
Solution Framework
  • Satellite router software which provides Broadband Internet Access with return link data rate of 64Kbps to 2Mbps and forward link data rate of 40 MbpsSupport for standard router functionalities via satellite, with protocol support for DVB-S / DVB-RCS, IP, NAT, Firewall, TCP, HTTP, DHCP, PPPManagement support through SNMP, CLI and WebNMSupport for MulticastingMulticast FTP support for software downloads / upgrades

  • Flash based file systemCustomer benefits
  • Solution Validation on Linux before migrating to MPC860 based target systems, to facilitate parallel development of the hardwarePhase-wise deliveries to ensure early demonstration of the work product in the market
  • Early commercial release of Satellite Terminals

Case Study 5- Meshed Satellite Network
Customer

A satellite OEM major in Europe

Requirement
  • Software solution for the network entities in the Proof of Concept meshed satellite network using On Board Processor
Solution Framework
  • Enhancement of the Star Network Satellite Terminal for Meshed Network
  • DVB-RCS Gateway implementation for the Network Test Bed
  • Distributed system architecture for the Network Control Center
  • Terminal Information base management through Oracle Database
  • Support for Multiple process Instances, for dedicated Radio Resource management
  • Hierarchical Management of the Network entities
Customer Benefits
  • Proof of Concept and feasibility study of network in a cost effective way
  • Validation of the On Board Processor using the Meshed Satellite Network entities
Case Study 6 - Service Gateway

Customer

A Dallas based Start-up company

Requirement

  • Develop a DSL Residential Gateway
  • Incorporate policy based services provisioning features
Solution Framework
  • On-site requirement analysis and architecture arrival.
  • Features accomplished by porting of Layer2 (Bridge, L2TP, PPP) and Layer3 (TCP/IP, IPSec) protocol stacks of Aricent and also some of the third party products like IPSec.
  • Some of the proprietary modules were developed in total.
  • Undertook responsibility for development from embedded drivers to GUI.
Customer benefits
  • Enabled in-house resources to focus on product management and strategy
  • Cost effective IP architecting skills
